LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE II

LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE II

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

The Scene: A pole with three lamps–representing the Trinity: Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

God’s children have the light of God within them to shine out into a dark world. God’s children are called to be salt and light.

Ephesians 5:8 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light, for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth.”

Mark 9:50 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”

Romans 8:1-2 ,4 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.”

6-20 LIGHT

REFINED LIKE GOLD

REFINED LIKE GOLD

Job 23:10 ” But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

The Scene: A very hot reservoir heated from underneath filled with molten gold, the dross floating on the top and evaporating.

We go through many trials and we Christians are tested. We come through these tests and trials for the better, maturing in our faith in Jesus, our help in time of need.

Psalm 66:10 ” For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.”

Isaiah 48:10 ” See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.”

6-17 TESTED

DIVINE DELIVERY

DIVINE DELIVERY

2 Samuel 22:2-3 “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior–from violent men you save me.”

The Scene: A large emergency-looking vehicle representing our Savior, Jesus the Christ of Nazareth, painted yellow as in “the light of the world.” And a large white cross for purity.

Our God is “a just in time” God. When we are lost, sometimes in deep despair, He, through His Holy Spirit, arrives to save us (many times from ourselves).

Psalm 34: 4 “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”

Psalm37:39-40 “The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.”

He is our mighty and strong deliverer!

6-18 OUR DELIVERER

ALWAYS WITH US

ALWAYS WITH US

Psalm 145:18-21” The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.”

The Scene: A large city in the USA, many tall buildings looking like a metropolitan skyline. If one were looking down from the top of one of these tall buildings the many people below would be seen as if they were ants crawling along the ground. But the following Psalm 139, written by King David, shows us how our heavenly Father, seated on His throne in heaven, sees us in His perfect, loving care.

Psalm 139:1-10 “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in–behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

6-17 GOD CARES

OUR SHIELD

OUR SHIELD

Psalm 18:30b (RSV) ” This God–his way is perfect; the promise of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

The Scene: A shield with three crosses at the top representing the Holy Trinity: Father Son, Holy Spirit; and four crosses on the face of the shield symbolic of the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The large white cross in the middle represents Jesus with a red border representing His shed blood which covers His believers’ sins and the color yellow for His being the Light of the world.

Jesus is our shield and defender against the evils of this world.

2 Samuel 22:3 ” My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior— from violent men you save me.”

Psalm 33:20-22 “We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”

6-16 PROTECTION

PROVISION OF GOD

PROVISION OF GOD

Psalm 135:7 “He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.”

The Scene: Large cloud bank–symbolic of God’s provision. His supply is endless, like the clouds in the sky.

Psalm147:8-9 “He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.”

He quenches the earth’s thirst, brings shade to cover the land from the sun’s hot rays.

Psalm 65:9” You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.”

Psalm 113:3 “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”

God will make a way where there seems to be no way, for He cares for His people and will meet their needs. Those who deny God may or may not have their needs met; however, we know that God does love all humankind.

HEAD OF THE CHURCH

HEAD OF THE CHURCH

1 Corinthians 11:3 “Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.”

The Scene: A series of boxes rises from the largest box “God the Father” who is very strong–capable of carrying all mankind .

1 Corinthians 11:11-12 “In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also was man born of woman. But everything comes from God.”

Colossians 1:15-17 ” He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for hm. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. “

GOD'S LATENT POWER

GOD’S LATENT POWER

Isaiah 41:10 ” ‘ So do not feaR, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ‘ “

The Scene: A single lever faucet (only one handle) representing our one an only God (The Holy Trinity)– Our God is here for us, in our times of need, latent, like the water being held back by the faucet handle(valve). Our God’s power is available anytime, to His people that pray in Jesus’ name.

Isaiah 46:4 ” ‘Even to your old age and gray hair I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will rescue you. ‘ “

Psalm 125:2 “As the mountains surround Jerusalem so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forever more.”

6-13 GOD’S POWER

SET FREE

SET FREE

Isaiah 42:1, 6-7 “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations. I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.”

The Scene: The captives have been set free– the prison door, symbolic of the gates of Hell, has been opened, never to be closed again for all who choose to believe in God’s Son, Jesus the Christ of Nazareth.

Ephesians 4:8-10 “This is why it says: ‘When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men.’ (What does ‘he ascended’ mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) “

On the third day after Jesus’ death on the cross of Calvary (now called Easter/Resurrection Day) He arose, and in so doing set the captives free! His people, called by His name “Christian”* are set free from death unto eternal life in heaven. Hallelujah! *Christ follower/little Christ

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

HE IS FAITHFUL (H2O)

HE IS FAITHFUL

Acts Chapter 27 (Paul sails for Rome): Though the Apostle Paul was surrounded by high waves from rough seas, he did not lose faith in his God (Father God) nor his Savior, Jesus.

The Scene: Molecular symbols of oxygen and hydrogen (water): all around like someone encapsulated in water, representing God’s faithfulness. H2O surrounds us in the atmosphere we breathe and on the surface water of the earth. Two-thirds of the earth is covered with water. Science tells us water is contained in everything on the earth (natural elements).

Our God is here for us in time of need. The Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) are on call for us day and night, 24/7. They remain on duty for us, for they love us.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”

Revelation 22:1 “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city.”
