IN JESUS’ NAME

IN JESUS’ NAME

John 14:13 “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.”

The Scene: Representation of one of Jesus’ children in prayer, his voice booming out, as though he were using a megaphone.

When Christians pray “IN JESUS’ NAME” to God it is as if we were praying using a megaphone. Speaking “IN JESUS’ NAME” gets the attention of our Lord (and of the enemy, Satan, if the enemy is the problem).

John 16:24 “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”

John 20:31 “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

WIND OF THE SPIRIT

WIND OF THE SPIRIT.jpg

WIND OF THE SPIRIT

Mark 13:27 “And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.”

The Scene: As if looking through a porthole of a sailing ship, other sail boats passed by this window under full sail.  God the Holy Spirit blows the wind that guides the sail boats, representing God’s elect, His children gathering His own together, from the four corners of the earth.  The sail colors are symbolic of the differing people of many nations, coming together as one under the headship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Matthew 25:32-33 ” All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and  the goats on his left.

Those on His right will join Him in heaven forever. Those on His left will be cast into hell and eternal damnation.

BEFORE AND AFTER

BEFORE & AFTER.jpg

BEFORE AND AFTER

James 1:4-5 “Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

The Scene: A roughly-hewn block of wood appearing next to the smooth, round wooden ball-shaped figure.

“They are the same block of wood. The before block of wood represents the fleshly person (unsaved) before that person’s life has been touched by the Lord,” said the Holy Spirit.

“The after ball-shaped wood is the former block that has been refined by the Master. The ball represents a person who has accepted Jesus the Christ of Nazareth as Lord and Savior,” said the Holy Spirit.

Each saved person, through the reading and studying of God’s Holy Word and listening to His voice has the opportunity to be transformed into a mature Christian.  Then, with the help of God in his/her life, is able to roll through life more easily than the immature or doubters, who must clunk along through life, having to overcome the roughness of their own lives and worldly trials.  Of course, believers in Jesus Christ are the only ones who have the assurance of eternal salvation; unbelievers do not have this.

Titus 3:5-6 “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.”

2 Corinthians 4:16 “Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

LIKE A MIGHTY WIND

LIKE A MIGHTY WIND.jpg

LIKE A MIGHTY WIND

Psalm 18:12  “Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning.”

The Scene:  A vision: The clouds raced across the sky like a time-lapse film. The trees were bent over by the force of a mighty wind.

The Lord said, “I am like the wind–My presence is felt as I move about the earth, seeking my own.”

The winds remind us of his presence at all times, for He is with us at all times, Emmanuel, God with us.

Mark 13:27 “And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.”

BRIGHT STARS

BRIGHT STARS.jpgBRIGHT STARS

Philippians 2:14-16 ” Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like the stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life–in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.”

The Scene: Stars in the heavens, shining above the earth–a representation of the children of God, emulating Jesus as the Light of the world.

We have been called out of darkness–we are to exalt Jesus, who in fact is God–He came to earth as a baby (human).   He became a man, obeyed God and became a servant, allowing Himself to die on the cross for us who receive His atoning sacrifice & resurrection on the third day as the only propitiation for our sins. (See 1 John 2:2 KJV)

Philippians 2:6-8 “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross!”

Therefore we are to exalt Him above every name–King Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

As children of God we are to be like the stars in the heavens, shining out into a darkened world, rejoicing and being glad at who we are in Him, King Jesus! Amen!

FACE OF THE MASTER

FACE OF THE MASTER

FACE OF THE MASTER

Matthew 17:2  “There he was transfigured before them. His face shown like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.”

The Scene: A bright, full yellow and  white sun, representing the face of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Up on the high mountain Jesus was transfigured,* made white as light, (the glorified Christ.)

Luke 9:29 “As he was praying, the appearance of his (Jesus’) face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.”

*transfigured:  His external aspect was changed, His face gleaming like the sun, and His raiment (clothing) being so white that it shone like light. (Unger’s Bible Dictionary)

As Christians watch for Jesus’ return,” And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed** into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”(2 Corinthians 3:18)

** transformed: “In theology, to change the natural disposition and temper of man from a state of enmity to God and his law, into the image of God, or into a disposition and temper conformed to the will of God. (American Dictionary of the English Language Noah Webster 1828)

Acts 6:15 ” All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.”  A disciple of Jesus, Stephen, a man the apostles said  was full of the Spirit and wisdom, experienced a similar transformation.

PRUNED FOR GOD

PRUNED FOR GOD.jpg

PRUNED FOR GOD

John 15:1-4 ” I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

The Scene: Pine trees with pruned branches lying on the ground.

The Holy Spirit quickened His Word, “Like these trees, My people allow Father God to prune them, as they remain in Him. For we know that the pruning is for our own good and will help make us more fruitful (ready for service to do the work God has planned for us.)

Pruning by God is the removal of our sinful nature.  That leads to spiritual maturity, thus making us available to serve our God and King, Jesus Christ.

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISHES

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISHES.jpg

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISH

John 6:5-13 (Read)

“Why do you worry about the times in which you live? Am I not well able to meet your needs & the needs of all My people?” said the Lord.

The Scene: five* loaves of bread and two* fish in two straw baskets. The bread is symbolic of Jesus as the Bread of Life, nourishment for body, soul & spirit. He is our strength and our salvation. John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.’   v.58 This is the bread that came down from heaven.  Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.'”

Jesus said to His disciples, ” I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19). The fish symbol was common in Jesus’ day (for Christians) and seen in the Greek word ICHTHUS, which was comprised of  Jesus Christ God’s Son Savior (Ref. Augsburg Fortreas copyright 1990- Mark Bangert) Symbols of the Church.

*Bible number 5=grace; 2=union, Jesus

The point: The Holy Spirit impresses God’s people that He is in control and that He ultimately will determine the fate of  the USA & every other nation, and that God’s children are His and He will take care of His own.

He is our provider, Jehovah Rapha.

ONE WHO SERVES

ONE WHO SERVES.jpg

ONE WHO SERVES

Philippians 2:6-8  “Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death–even death on a cross!”

The Scene: The act of a servant washing the feet of another person.

John 13:3-17 (Read) Jesus washed the feet of the disciples. Their feet came in contact with the earth (the earth representing the world, a dirty, dusty place, sinful). Therefore, washing the feet means to clean up oneself and be separate from the world system and values, i.e., man’s values vs. God’s.

The feet represent ministry. Isaiah 52:7 “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'”

The bigger picture is one of ministry to others. We are called daily to put on the whole armor of God which includes putting on the shoes/sandals of the gospel. See Ephesians 6:14-18.

TREE OF LIFE

TREE OF LIFETREE OF LIFE

Proverbs 3:13,17 ” Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding…Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.”

The Scene: Symbolic tree of life, looking like a cross.

Revelation 2:7 ” He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”

Revelation 22:3 “On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing  twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.”

Jesus’ cross, on which  he was sacrificed in obedience to His heavenly Father, was a tree of death to many.  But to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the cross is the tree of life for all  eternity, for all humanity who will accept Jesus’ atoning death and resurrection:  John 3:15  “That everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
