JESUS, LIGHT OF THE WORLD III

JESUS LIGHT OF THE WORLD III

Psalm 119:130 “The unfolding of your word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” (Simple: unlearned and willing to receive– child-like.)

The Scene: Rising sun from horizon to its zenith (noon) with the sky becoming brighter and brighter.

Getting to know Jesus Christ and His Word is revealing, as the sun rising and providing light for us to see our surroundings clearly. As we grow spiritually, it is like getting more and more light unto our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Father God, revealing all that God wants us to discern. We gain Godly wisdom, knowledge, discernment as we read His Word and ask for help to understand His Truth therein.

Jesus is the light of the world!

1 John 1:5, 7 “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Ephesians 5:8 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)”

5-194 JESUS THE LIGHT

SEE THEE MORE CLEARLY

See Thee More Clearly

1 Corinthians 13:12 “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

The Scene: Accepting salvation and being born-again, born of the Spirit is, spiritually speaking, like having cataract surgery on the eyes. Before our salvation experience, we cannot see, understand the things of God clearly–such as the mystery of the faith, which is Jesus the Christ of Nazareth. But after we are born-again we can see God more clearly through His One and Only Son.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10,14 “However, as it is written: no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him–but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. v. 14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

John 9:24-25 “A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. ‘Give glory to God’, they said. We know this man is a sinner. He replied, ‘Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!’ “

5-195 SEE THEE MORE CLEARLY

HIS GUIDING HAND

HIS GUIDING HAND

Psalm 139:9-10 “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

The Scene: The tall-masted ship sailed away from the dock, heading out to sea– the dock represents the world order and the sea ahead is a symbol of the Christian’s journey through life.

We leave the world behind, trusting in the Lord, that He will care for us and help us through our journey on our life’s way. Our hope in our journey is Spirit-led, to our God-given rewards, as promised by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Psalm 25:4-5 ” Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

From the great hymn: Eternal Father by John B. Dyke 1861, The Episcopal Hymnal 1940 p.512 (4th verse): ‘O Trinity of love and power, our brethren shield in danger’s hour; from rock and tempest, fire and foe, protect them wheresoe’er they go; thus evermore shall rise to thee, glad hymns of praise from land and sea.’

5-193 DIVINE PROTECTION

OUR GOD OF POWER

OUR GOD OF POWER

Psalm 77:15 “With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.”

The Scene: Symbolic of the Lord’s mighty right arm. His strong right hand is holding up the Bible–Holy Scripture, as though holding a sword in His right hand.

Ephesians 6:17 ” Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

His Word, so powerful; it will last forever, even after everything else is gone. His Word, which is the Lord Jesus Christ, is the most powerful Name on the earth and in the heavens.

1 Peter 1:24-25 “For, ‘All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flower of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever. And this is the word that was preached to us.’ “

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

We can depend on God’s mighty right hand, Jesus, to defend us in our times of need. He alone is faithful and true.

2 Samuel 22:33 (KJV) “God is my strength and power: and he makes my way perfect.”

5-194 THE WORD

ADVERSITY

ADVERSITY

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain.”

The Scene: A vision: The snow fell heavily for awhile and stopped–the ground was covered with a blanket of snow. A snowman appeared dressed with hat and scarf. The sun came out and the snowman began to melt. The snow turned to water, soaking into the ground, refreshing the earth.

The point: Each person who has been born-again has been called into God’s service, in whatever way He has planned for them. When we obey we will receive our due rewards in God’s time. For we believe His Word is true.

Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

Good things can come from the adversities in our lives when we look on the sunny side of life.

5-193 ADVERSITY

NEW LIFE

NEW LIFE

Romans 6:4 ” We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. “

The Scene: A plant, once alive, appears to have died. After a time the plant appears to have a rebirth, coming back to life, as it sends out new growth through the old growth. A vision symbolic of mankind and his trials (sin revealed) and overcoming.

Luke 12:2 “There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.”

Many people believe that when they die their lives end totally with not consciousness or their souls float forever in a nameless void. Only eternal death awaits them because they have no belief in Jesus Christ our Lord. But God’s people, those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and who continue to overcome, will experience eternal life after death with God because they are rooted in His Word. (See Revelation 20:12)

Colossians 2:6-7 “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (See Galatians 5:22)

FEAR THE LORD

Isaiah 50:10 “Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.”

The Scene: Symbolic of a person who is walking out his life–sometimes with the aid of the light and other times in darkness and a beacon representing the Lord Jesus Christ. In the background is the Light of God shining on the person traveling his life’s path while he stays in the light of the Word of God.

John 12:35-36,46 “Then Jesus told them, ‘You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.’ “

Studying God’s Word can keep us in His light, spiritually speaking, as long a we follow God’s precepts, commands for our lives (right living). We can trust in His direction to keep ourselves in His light.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

5-191 LIGHTED PATH FOR LIFE

THE END IS NEAR

THE END IS NEAR

Matthew 4:17 ” From that time on Jesus began to preach, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.’ ”

The Scene: A clock–the time of midnight is approaching.

Mankind does not know how short time is (the end of time). So stay rooted in God’s Word and do what it says. “Be steadfast in doing good,” said the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 90:12 “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Colossians 4:5 “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”

Psalm 39:5 ” You have made my days a mere handbreath; the span of my years is nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath.”

5-190 THE END

DIVINE PROTECTION III

DIVINE PROTECTION III

Exodus 15:27 ” Then they came to Elim,* where there were 12 springs and 70 palm trees, and they camped there near the water.” *Elim means trees.

The Scene: An oasis with several (12) spring waters bubbling up and many (70) palm trees shading the area, and other flora around the pool of water. (See Exodus 16 for further study.)

God gives us divine protection as believers in Jesus Christ, just as He gave the Israelites, when fleeing from Pharaoh and his army in Egypt. It was at Elim (trees) that God met their needs for water and for food giving them protection from their surroundings. The Israelites camped nearby the oasis at Elim, providing shade, comfort, and food, including manna (bread) and quail. Even though the Israelites continued to grumble and blame Moses for lack of their wants, God met their needs. How much more will He do for us, if we listen to what he says and follow His Word? James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

We can pray to our gracious, generous God, thanking Him for our many blessings, for our families, our nation, and we can ask for continued blessings, when we follow His commands.

Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

5-187 PROTECTION

SEVEN TRUMPETS

SEVEN TRUMPETS

Revelations 8:2 “And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.”

The Scene: Seven trumpets shown to honor Father God. Like the seven trumpets, God’s saints (the Church) are called to give Father God praise, glory, and honor.

Psalm 47:5-6 “God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.” God loves to hear the praises of His people–give Him all praise due His Name!

Psalm 98:5-6 ” Make music to the Lord with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn–shout for joy before the Lord, the King.”

Hebrews 13:15-16 “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that confess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

In good times and bad times we are called to give praises to our God.

5-186 PRAISE TO GOD
