BLESSED BE THE NAME

BLESSED BE THE NAME

Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The scene: An array of flags displaying a few of the names ascribed to the King of Kings, our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ of Nazareth, Son of God Almighty. All the names given are intended to give the Lord Jesus the glory, honor and majesty due Him as the Second Person of the Holy Trinity: the Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Psalm 113:3-5 “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who sits enthroned on high?”

Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

FOWLER’S SNARE

FOWLER’S SNARE

Psalm 91:11 “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

The Scene: A born-again person running to and fro and falling down, as the net, the fowler’s snare, and temptations begin to envelop the Christian person’s soul and spirit. This scene is repeated over and over. But the cross of Jesus Christ prevents the net from coming all the way down and capturing the enemy’s prey.

In the shadow of the cross we have protection from Satan.

Psalm 91:1-3 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.”

Psalm 124:7-8 “We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

STANDING, OF ONE MIND

STANDING, OF ONE MIND

Philippians 1:27-28 “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved–and that by God.”

The Scene: A strong solid wall, standing firm on its foundation–representing the Church with Jesus Christ as its foundation, standing in the unty of the faith.

Philippians 2:1-2 “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. “

Father God wants His Church on the same page, preaching, teaching, learning, understanding, the same Gospel of His Word for all.

1 Corinthians 1:10 ” I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no division among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

John 17:20-21 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” (Jesus praying for His disciples, just before He was arrested.)

Jesus knew the difficulty His Church would have, after He was gone, trying to stay united and of one mind–focused on the Gospel, as He had presented it to the people, who He was and why He came. We are called to read His Word as it was written. (See Father God’s warning: Revelation 21:18-20.)

WHICH WAY

WHICH WAY

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.”

The Point: In God’s world, not making a choice is making a choice.

The Scene: The way people live does make a difference. Their choices can lead them up or down: to everlasting life or to eternal separation from God.

We all have family members, friends and acquaintances who may have said they haven’t made the decision yet to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Savior of the world and to invite Him into their hearts. Jesus is coming! As children of Father God, we are called to help expand His kingdom and to give Him glory.

Mark 16:15-16 “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ‘ “

We can help expand God’s kingdom by setting a good example for those who are unsaved and praying for them daily. In the end we will see more of our family, friends, and acquaintances in heaven with us.

6-1 CHOICES

PENTECOST DAY

Acts 2:1,4 “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

The Scene: Satan represented by the king cobra snake rising up with its hood extended and tongue flicking out of its grinning mouth. Then the cobra began to melt away under the power of prayer.

Prayer can dispel an imagined or real demonic presence of the enemy. He cannot stay when God’s people pray in the name of the Lord Jesus! God commands him to leave.

The church in Jerusalem, on the day of Pentecost, prayed in the Holy Spirit under the protection and power of Father God.

Acts 2:17-21 “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

5-139 POWER OF PRAYER

SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

The Scene: A shower head spraying water from its source which represents a reminder that the Lord God is our source for everything good.

Ezekiel 34:26 “I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessings.”

The Lord’s blessings, like this shower head’s water are latent, waiting for a call to provide blessing upon His people, born-again believers in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.

The normal shower head sprays water–God blesses; when we call on His name He will be there, washing away whatever needs cleansing, covering us with His shower of blessing, through His Word, His living water.

Psalm 72:6-7 “He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. In his days the righteous will flourish; prosperity will abound til the moon is no more.”

Acts 14:17 “Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”

5-138 BLESSINGS

TEMPORARY HOME

TEMPORARY HOME

Isaiah 40:22 “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. “

The Scene: A tent–heaven sent representing the frailty and brevity of our lives; also, the tent is symbolic of a temporary home (we are not of this world)* and that we have an eternal home awaiting us in heaven. *John 17:14 ” I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.”

Our Lord has promised to to provide a tent/covering for His people in their time of need. His covering of love for us will provide shade from the heat to help overcome trials. For His love is greater than the world.

CURB THE TONGUE

CURB THE TONGUE

Proverbs 15:1 “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

The Scene: Sealed lips– a reminder of how to prevent strife in our relationships with others.

Proverbs 17:14 “Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.”

A study of the book of Proverbs, spoken by King Solomon and a few other authors, gives words of moral instruction, to help with righteous living: *Guard Lips: Proverbs 21:23 “He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.” *Tongue restrained: Proverbs 17: 27-28 “A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.” *A man deceived: James 1:26 “If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight reign on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.” *Keeping the peace 1 Peter 3:10 : For, ‘Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.’ ” *Gossip: Proverbs 20:19 “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.” *Wise Words: Proverbs 15:23A man finds joy in giving an apt reply–and how good is a timely word!”

We are called to speak the truth in love: Ephesians 4:15 “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.”

I AM FAITHFUL

I AM FAITHFUL

Hebrews 3:6 “But Christ is faithful as a Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.”

The Scene: The cross of Christ represented–a reminder that He gave His life us.

Jesus Christ our Lord was transformed into the “Son of Man” for us. He was crucified on the cross, faithful to God’s will. And He has chosen to live in us, born-again believers.

Hebrews 10:22-23 “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

Many people have been lost and gone to eternal hell because they lacked or gave up their faith in the One who is most faithful, Jesus Christ our Savior.

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

5-133 FAITHFULNESS, GOD’S

LIFE’S DIFFICULTIES

LIFE’S DIFFICULTIES

Ecclesiastes 2:22-23 “What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.”

The Scene: A stack of fallen dominoes–symbolic of trials, troubles, difficulties that may occur in our lives. The hand of the Lord pushed over the dominoes, attempting to help His people overcome the problems and grow in spiritual and emotional maturity.

We have been told by the Lord, through His Holy Spirit, He will help us through our situations, if we call on His name, Jesus! His Spirit has given us the whole armor of God.

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; Trust also in me.”

5-132 TRIALS OF LIFE
