FACE OF THE MASTER

FACE OF THE MASTER

FACE OF THE MASTER

Matthew 17:2  “There he was transfigured before them. His face shown like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.”

The Scene: A bright, full yellow and  white sun, representing the face of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Up on the high mountain Jesus was transfigured,* made white as light, (the glorified Christ.)

Luke 9:29 “As he was praying, the appearance of his (Jesus’) face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.”

*transfigured:  His external aspect was changed, His face gleaming like the sun, and His raiment (clothing) being so white that it shone like light. (Unger’s Bible Dictionary)

As Christians watch for Jesus’ return,” And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed** into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”(2 Corinthians 3:18)

** transformed: “In theology, to change the natural disposition and temper of man from a state of enmity to God and his law, into the image of God, or into a disposition and temper conformed to the will of God. (American Dictionary of the English Language Noah Webster 1828)

Acts 6:15 ” All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.”  A disciple of Jesus, Stephen, a man the apostles said  was full of the Spirit and wisdom, experienced a similar transformation.

EYE OF GOD

EYE OF GOD.jpg

EYE OF GOD

Revelation 1:14 “His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.”

The Scene: A depiction of the eye of Jesus, who like His Father God. A dark circle from the outside to cause one to look deeper, to ponder, to meditate, then see inside the blazing eye of the Lord; an eye of divine vision.

God comprehends all of human life. He sees us for who we really are.

Psalm 11:4-5, 7 “The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them. The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates…For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.”

Revelation 2:18 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.

No one can fool God. He loves to reward those who love Him, the righteous, and those who are willing to follow his Word.

JESUS OUR RAMPART

JESUS OUR RAMPART.jpg

JESUS OUR RAMPART

Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

The Scene: A fort with a rampart before it: an earthen berm, a protective shield.

Jesus is our stronghold, like a fort and He is the defender of our faith in God.

2 Samuel 22:3 “My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior–from violent men you save me.”

Before leaving this world to return to His heavenly home, Jesus prayed for His followers.

John 17:11 “I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name– the name you gave me–so that they may be one as we are one.”

IN THE LAST DAYS

IN THE LAST DAYS.jpg

IN THE LAST DAYS

Acts 2:17 ” In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

The Scene: A bed– a symbol of sleep, a place where dreams may occur.

Job 33:14-18 ” For God does speak–now one way, now another–though man may not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men as they slumber in their beds, he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, to turn man from wrongdoing and keep him from pride, to preserve his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.”

From the Holy Scriptures of the book Job, the Lord tells his children that they will recognize the last days of the world as we know it. To the unsaved, warnings; but to God’s children hope comes with visions and dreams.

His promises refreshed in the mind of His people. Yet the message is the same, “And saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.'” Matthew 3:2

INDIFFERENCE

INDIFFERENCE.jpg

INDIFFERENCE

AMOS 6:1 “Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!”

The Scene: A graph showing the results that came upon Israel for their disobedience and their ignoring of Father God and His laws.

Ignoring God has consequences, as shown in Chapter 6 of Amos:

Amos 6:6-8,14 ” ‘You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph.  Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end. The Sovereign Lord has sworn by himself—the Lord God Almighty declares: ‘I abhor the pride of Jacob and detest his fortresses; I will deliver up the city and everything in it.'” v. 14 “For the Lord God Almighty declares, ‘I will stir up a nation against you, O house of Israel, that will oppress you all the way from Lebo Hamath to the valley of the Arabah.’ ”

Therein lies the lesson for people of today: history has shown the results of ignoring the Creator, the one true God. Nation after nation has been destroyed by other nations or has fallen from within– the message is as clear today as it was then, circa 800 B.C.:

Matthew 3:1-3 ” In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the Desert of Judea and saying, ‘Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near. This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:  ‘A voice of one calling in the desert, “Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.”‘

UNCULITIVATED GROUND

UNCULTIVATED GROUND.jpg

UNCULTIVATED GROUND

Hosea 10:12-13 “Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.  But you have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil, you have eaten the fruit of deception.  Because you have depended on your own strength and on your many warriors,”

The Scene: Horse- or oxen-type plowshare, used to break up unplowed ground for a new planting season.

The message of Hosea and other Scriptures shown below were intended by God, through His Word, to  bless all those who choose to live in righteousness, according to His will and His Word.

God speaks to the unspiritual people who have not followed after His ways.

God wants to bless His children now.   Be prepared for blessings, all you who are in the Lord. Prepare the hard, unplowed ground; then the Holy Spirit can bring countless blessings. The world will see the blessings and choose to be saved. Others will not make that choice, will become jealous, and will hate God’s blessed people.

Isaiah 55:10-11 “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

The above word of God requires righteousness of God’s own, those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord–God’s only Son.  They have received abundant blessings and have seen their resources increase, as they themselves have increased in right living for God.

Abundance will come to those who choose Jesus Christ over the world and its system.

Malachi 3:10 “‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.'”

MILK AND HONEY

MILK AND HONEY

MILK AND HONEY

Joel 2:26 “You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”

The Scene: Bottles of honey and milk–symbols of prosperity and of one’s needs being met.

Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.”

In these troubled end times God continues to take care of His own children, those* whom He has chosen and those* who have chosen to receive Him as Lord and Savior.

  • those: who are called Christians.  Those who accept Jesus as their personal Savior, Son of the one true God Almighty, El Shaddai, will be in right standing with God on Judgment Day.

Romans 8:30 ” And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”

Isaiah 41:10 ” So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

WALL OF FAITH

WALL OF FAITH.jpg

WALL OF FAITH

Psalm 122:7 “May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”

The Scene: a wall of faith under construction.

Romans 10:6-9” But the righteousness that is by faith says:  ‘Do not say to your heart, “Who will ascend into heaven?” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or who will descend into the deep?)” that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.”  ‘But what does it say?  “The word is near you;  it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

For if Christians are to grow in spiritual maturity they must begin by building their wall of faith. This begins by confession, “Jesus is Lord,” believing in their hearts, trusting in God’s Word, and calling on His Holy Name in time of need.

Building the wall of faith higher represents maturity in spiritual growth, showing progress, building a higher wall (symbolically) so the enemy, Satan, cannot come into our lives, leading us astray.

We have been justified through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and we pray we will have more of Jesus’ heart to demonstrate to others.

DESERT TIMES

DESERT TIMES.jpg

DESERT TIMES

Nehemiah 9:19 “Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the desert. By day the pillar of cloud did not cease to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.”

The Scene: a desert scene with a pitched tent.

The dry times in our lives can be compared to being in the desert: desert times, those times when Christians wonder where God has gone. They cannot sense His presence in their lives.

Those dry times can seem like bad times or they can be embraced as good times, to hear from from God, listening for His still, small voice speaking to us through His Holy Spirit.

The 40-day experience in the desert by Moses, John the Baptist, Jesus, and the 40 years in the desert by the Israelites are all times when they heard from Father God.  The number 40 can represent a time of testing or proving.

We, too, can embrace the dry times in our lives as good times to draw close to God, communicate with Him. Meditate on His Word, and then hear His voice.

Nehemiah 9:21For 40 years you sustained them in the desert; they lacked nothing, their clothes did not wear out nor did their feet become swollen.”

The desert is deceiving; it appears dead, lifeless, but beneath the surface there is life abundantly, especially when water is added. So it is with our lives, the living water of God’s Word can awaken us spiritually. Immanuel is with us!

RESTORER OF THE WALL

RESTORER OF THE WALL.jpg

RESTORER OF THE WALL

Nehemiah 4:20 ” Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet join us* there. Our God will fight for us! ”

The Scene: Representation of the defender of our* faith, Jesus, standing in the gap of our damaged wall of faith.

Nehemiah’s desire was to repair the wall of Jerusalem, even though Israel’s enemies threatened to destroy whatever they rebuilt. The people were afraid. Nehemiah told them, “Our God will fight for us.” And so it is today:  Jesus will stand in the gap for us and defend us when our wall of faith has been weakened, or broken, damaged by people or circumstances that have hurt us.

1 John 5:5 ” Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

*Born-again believers are those who have accepted Jesus Christ, Savior, Son of God the Father and have prayed for Jesus to be Lord of their lives.
