CHOICES

Revelation 3:7-8 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”

The Scene: Life’s pathway with forks representing choices we make throughout our lives; the doors through which we may choose to pass on our life’s journey.

God gives us free will and too often that is the option we choose, rather than following the planned pathway He has chosen for us. We should only listen to that still, small voice and follow the Holy Spirit’s lead. He tries to guide us in the direction of choices that are best for us.

The great quandary: 1) Which way–closer to God?

2) What does God want for me? He has a plan.

3) What do I want? What do I need?

Only one way is the best choice for us. In real life the doors are not normally clearly marked. We make choices bY OUR OWN free will. But which is best? The answers to these questions are found in His Word, listening to His Holy Spirit, prayer, and sometimes Godly counsel from a mature Christian.

We can pray Revelation 3:7 and wait for the Lord to work out our best the solution for us, in His time.

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

We can save a lot of time and effort and, sometimes, heartache if we will follow after peace and put our hope and trust in the Lord’s choices for us.

Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

And we can show our confidence in Him—

Psalm 40:1 “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.”

Psalm 37:7” Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”

Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. “

God calls us to be patient; He does not force an issue. The Holy Spirit will lead us through if we will but follow Him.

GOD’S VOICE

GOD’S VOICE

Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ “

The Scene: An ear–depicted as striving to hear God’s voice.

Father God in His wisdom sent His children, not only a Savior, but an Advocate with the Father, His Holy Spirit, to guide us into all truth and wisdom.

Matthew 3:11“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”

The above words were spoken by Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist. The Holy Spirit will answer our questions and requests (prayers).

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

Our job is to listen to God’s voice and do what He says.

James 1:22-23” Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

HIS COVENANTS

HIS COVENANTS

Isaiah 59:21 ” As for me, this is my covenant with them, says the Lord. My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and forever, says the Lord.”

The Scene: A Scroll representing all the covenants* Father God has made with His children.

*COVENANT: A mutual agreement between God and man. An example; covenant of grace, is that in which God engages to bestow salvation on man, upon the condition that man, woman shall believe in Christ and yield obedience to the terms of the Gospel. (Reference: American Dictionary of the English Language–Noah Webster 1928 11th Edition 1999, page 50.)

We know that God’s covenants are true because they are written in Jesus’ blood, the Son of of Father God.

Zechariah 9:11-12a ” As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.”

Deuteronomy 7:9 ” Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.”

As obedient children belonging to God we CAN CLAIM ALL OF THE COVENANT promises, and we know that God does not, cannot lie. And because of the oath he gave to Abraham, He swore upon himself–for there is no one greater than He himself and His covenants (see Genesis 22:17) which He made.

Hebrews 6:13-15 “When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, ‘I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.’ And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.”

MYSTERY REVEALED

MYSTERY REVEALED
Colossians 1:26-27 The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

WHAT IS MEANT BY “THE MYSTERY?”
Ephesians 3:6 “This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.”
WHO IS THE REVEALER OF THE MYSTERY?
Matthew 3:17 “And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’ “

The Scene: A book– symbolic of the revelation of the mystery of Christ. Jesus came to earth as a man to save the world and to reveal His relationship with Father God, His Father. His coming in the flesh shows the world what Father God is like, “If you have seen Me you have seen the Father,” Jesus said.”
WHAT DID HE REVEAL?
Colossians 1:15-18 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the the head of the body, the Church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.”
WHY A MYSTERY?
1 Corinthians 2:14-16 “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
CONCLUSION:
1 Corinthians 2:8-10 “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him’–but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.”

Jesus came to earth as a man to save the world from sin and to reveal His relationship with His Father, Father God: Jesus stated His mission and purpose more than once in the Holy Scriptures.

1 Timothy 3:16 “Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.”

There is much proof through antiquities that the above is true. Many, many discoveries have been found over the millenium that all of the Holy Bible is true.

Jesus want all His people, the saints, those born-again, the true Church, to know the truth of God and His plan for salvation. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

BLESSED BE THE NAME

BLESSED BE THE NAME

Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The scene: An array of flags displaying a few of the names ascribed to the King of Kings, our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ of Nazareth, Son of God Almighty. All the names given are intended to give the Lord Jesus the glory, honor and majesty due Him as the Second Person of the Holy Trinity: the Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Psalm 113:3-5 “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who sits enthroned on high?”

Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

FOWLER’S SNARE

FOWLER’S SNARE

Psalm 91:11 “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

The Scene: A born-again person running to and fro and falling down, as the net, the fowler’s snare, and temptations begin to envelop the Christian person’s soul and spirit. This scene is repeated over and over. But the cross of Jesus Christ prevents the net from coming all the way down and capturing the enemy’s prey.

In the shadow of the cross we have protection from Satan.

Psalm 91:1-3 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.”

Psalm 124:7-8 “We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

STANDING, OF ONE MIND

STANDING, OF ONE MIND

Philippians 1:27-28 “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved–and that by God.”

The Scene: A strong solid wall, standing firm on its foundation–representing the Church with Jesus Christ as its foundation, standing in the unty of the faith.

Philippians 2:1-2 “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. “

Father God wants His Church on the same page, preaching, teaching, learning, understanding, the same Gospel of His Word for all.

1 Corinthians 1:10 ” I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no division among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

John 17:20-21 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” (Jesus praying for His disciples, just before He was arrested.)

Jesus knew the difficulty His Church would have, after He was gone, trying to stay united and of one mind–focused on the Gospel, as He had presented it to the people, who He was and why He came. We are called to read His Word as it was written. (See Father God’s warning: Revelation 21:18-20.)

WHICH WAY

WHICH WAY

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.”

The Point: In God’s world, not making a choice is making a choice.

The Scene: The way people live does make a difference. Their choices can lead them up or down: to everlasting life or to eternal separation from God.

We all have family members, friends and acquaintances who may have said they haven’t made the decision yet to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Savior of the world and to invite Him into their hearts. Jesus is coming! As children of Father God, we are called to help expand His kingdom and to give Him glory.

Mark 16:15-16 “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ‘ “

We can help expand God’s kingdom by setting a good example for those who are unsaved and praying for them daily. In the end we will see more of our family, friends, and acquaintances in heaven with us.

6-1 CHOICES

PENTECOST DAY

Acts 2:1,4 “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

The Scene: Satan represented by the king cobra snake rising up with its hood extended and tongue flicking out of its grinning mouth. Then the cobra began to melt away under the power of prayer.

Prayer can dispel an imagined or real demonic presence of the enemy. He cannot stay when God’s people pray in the name of the Lord Jesus! God commands him to leave.

The church in Jerusalem, on the day of Pentecost, prayed in the Holy Spirit under the protection and power of Father God.

Acts 2:17-21 “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

5-139 POWER OF PRAYER

SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

The Scene: A shower head spraying water from its source which represents a reminder that the Lord God is our source for everything good.

Ezekiel 34:26 “I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessings.”

The Lord’s blessings, like this shower head’s water are latent, waiting for a call to provide blessing upon His people, born-again believers in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.

The normal shower head sprays water–God blesses; when we call on His name He will be there, washing away whatever needs cleansing, covering us with His shower of blessing, through His Word, His living water.

Psalm 72:6-7 “He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. In his days the righteous will flourish; prosperity will abound til the moon is no more.”

Acts 14:17 “Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”
