2 Peter 1:1-2 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
The Scene: A dozen* long stem roses in a gift box, representing the gift of righteousness** that can only be given by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. *12=the Bible number for perfection, atonement & overcoming. **Righteousness; purity of heart and rectitude (honesty, integrity, moral perfection and truthfulness.) — Unger’s Bible Dictionary 1977 The Moody Bible Institute
Jesus Christ is the changer of our hearts–righteousness can only come about through Him. Without God’s help we can do nothing.
John 15:5 ” I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I remain in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Ezekiel 36: 26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a new heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Even if we desire to change our own hearts, actual change is impossible without God’s help. Give him praise for your salvation. Prayer: “Shine your light in our hearts, O God. Give us more of you each day and less of ourselves. In Jesus name, Amen.”
