CROWN OF LOVE

CROWN OF LOVECROWN OF LOVE

Mark 15:17 “They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.”

The Scene: The crown of thorns* came from a scrubby bush called burnet, which grew in the region Jesus taught (Matthew Henry Commentary). ” He wore the crown of thorns, which we deserved, that we might wear  the crown of glory which He merited.” (Zondervan Edition 1960)

  • Three strands make up the crown of thorns–three being the number for the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When Jesus suffered and was crucified, not only Jesus suffered, but Father God suffered as well.”The Son of God loves us so much that He was willing to wear the crown of thorns, that we might wear the crown of life,” said the Holy Spirit.

James 12:2 “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God had promised to those who love him.”

GOD IS OUR ROCK

GOD IS OUR ROCK.jpg

GOD IS OUR ROCK

Deuteronomy 32:4 * “He is our rock, his works are perfect, and his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

  • A verse from The Song of Moses that was recited before the whole assembly of Israel.

2 Chronicles 6:14 ” O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on the earth–you keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.”

The scene: a very large rock formation with three peaks; representing the Trinity.

God is our Rock and our salvation. Our God is absolutely faithful. His Word is sure.

Psalm 18:2 ” The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock,  in whom I take refuge.”

1 Corinthians 10:3-4  “They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.”

CHOOSE (Whom you will serve)

CHOOSE

CHOOSE (WHOM YOU WILL SERVE)

Hosea 4:12 ” They consult a wooden idol and are answered by a stick of wood. A spirit of prostitution leads them astray; they are unfaithful to their God.”

The Scene: a modern wood carving–representing an idol of today, consulted by unbelievers in the one true God. NOTE: The black haze surrounding the idol represents the evil spirits, sin, and spiritual darkness–blocking the light of Jesus, waiting to indwell someone.

Numbers 33:52 “When you cross the Jordan into Canaan drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places.”

On the plains of Moab, by the Jordan River, God spoke to Moses:

Numbers 33:53 “Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.”

As professing Christians, when saved, we cross over from death unto eternal life.Likewise, the Christian must discard any idols they possess and turn their lives over to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

1 Corinthians 10:14 ” Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.”

Anything that takes us away from God is some form of idolatry…..for our God is a jealous God. Our allegiance is to King Jesus, the giver of eternal life to come.

MY SHIELD

MY SHIELD.jpg

MY SHIELD

Psalm 33:20 ” We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.”

The Scene: a shield called a buckler–an Israelite shield used for protection.

In 1 Chronicles 17:7-8,11-12 God’s protection was assured to King David and his son Solomon. The buckler was a multi-purpose instrument.  When not in use for war, as a defensive armor, it was put to use in other ways:  1)collector of God’s provision, such as,  catching  rainwater, from which they could obtain a drink, 2) a wash basin, 3) a carry-all, by placing their spear through the handle straps, food or other items could be transported.

Psalm 18:30 ” As for our God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless, He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.”

KING OF KINGS

KING OF KINGS.jpg

KING OF KINGS

Job 4:18 “He takes off the shackles put on by kings and ties loincloth around their waist.”

The Scene: Broken shackles–the captives have been set free from sin and death.

Revelation 17:14 ” They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings– and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

Romans 6:17-18 ” But thanks be to God that, though you were slaves to sin, you whole-heartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted . You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

Jesus paid a debt he did not owe, that all mankind could choose to be set free. And mankind cannot repay Jesus for the sacrifice He paid on the cross.

John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Hebrews 9:15 “For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance–now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.”

ETERNAL FIRE

ETERNAL FIRE.jpg

ETERNAL FIRE

Deuteronomy 4:24 “For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”

The Scene: A vision while chopping wood; a fire, flames leaping high into the air, a fire with no observable fuel source.

The flame is a reminder to everyone, especially to His people, to not drift or be drawn away from Him, by thoughts and actions of this world.

Hebrew 12:28 ” Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”

Our God is complete unto Himself. He needs nothing to sustain Himself.  If We are in Him and He in us, we are complete.

1 John 2:5 ” But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him. Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”

The Point: In these troubled times Satan and his helpers will try to pry away God’s people, mostly through fear and greed. We are to cling to God no matter what may come or go in this world.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

STRANGERS IN THIS WORLD

STRANGERS OF THIS WORLD.jpg

STRANGERS IN THIS WORLD

1 Peter 1:17-19 “Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s works impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

The Scene: A carpet bag designed for light travel made from carpet material. An indication that one carrying such a bag was not of the local area, but from another place.

Strangers in this world are those who choose to follow Jesus the Christ.

John 15:19 ” If you belonged to the world it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of this world. That is why the world hates you.”

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

1 John 2:15, 17 ” Do not love the world or anything in the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”

I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT

I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT.jpg

I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT

Acts 2:17 ” ‘In the last days,’ God Says,’ I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. ‘ ”

The Scene: Different languages that say, God love you and love God, a representation of what it was like on the day of Pentecost. (Translations obtained from several sources on the internet, including Irish, Scots Gaelic, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Hebrew and Aramaic.)

Acts 2:1-4 “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed like tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

Acts 2:15-16 ” ‘ These men are not drunk as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken of by the prophet Joel.’ ”  See Joel 2:29

The gift of the Holy Spirit is given to all mankind who believe in Jesus, the Christ, savior, and want the gift of the holy spirit and ask for it.

PRUNED FOR GOD

PRUNED FOR GOD.jpg

PRUNED FOR GOD

John 15:1-4 ” I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

The Scene: Pine trees with pruned branches lying on the ground.

The Holy Spirit quickened His Word, “Like these trees, My people allow Father God to prune them, as they remain in Him. For we know that the pruning is for our own good and will help make us more fruitful (ready for service to do the work God has planned for us.)

Pruning by God is the removal of our sinful nature.  That leads to spiritual maturity, thus making us available to serve our God and King, Jesus Christ.

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISHES

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISHES.jpg

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISH

John 6:5-13 (Read)

“Why do you worry about the times in which you live? Am I not well able to meet your needs & the needs of all My people?” said the Lord.

The Scene: five* loaves of bread and two* fish in two straw baskets. The bread is symbolic of Jesus as the Bread of Life, nourishment for body, soul & spirit. He is our strength and our salvation. John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.’   v.58 This is the bread that came down from heaven.  Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.'”

Jesus said to His disciples, ” I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19). The fish symbol was common in Jesus’ day (for Christians) and seen in the Greek word ICHTHUS, which was comprised of  Jesus Christ God’s Son Savior (Ref. Augsburg Fortreas copyright 1990- Mark Bangert) Symbols of the Church.

*Bible number 5=grace; 2=union, Jesus

The point: The Holy Spirit impresses God’s people that He is in control and that He ultimately will determine the fate of  the USA & every other nation, and that God’s children are His and He will take care of His own.

He is our provider, Jehovah Rapha.
