LET THE DEAD BURY THEIR OWN DEAD

LET THE DEAD BURY THE DEAD.jpg

LET THE DEAD BURY THEIR OWN  DEAD

Matthew 8:21-22 “Another disciple said to him, ‘Lord, first let me go bury my father.’ But Jesus told him, ‘Follow me and let the dead bury their own dead.'”

The Scene: A message to the unbeliever that they will never see eternal life. For believers, pray for your unsaved family members.

Luke 14:33 “In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.”

The disciples were called to give their all.  Jesus knew what would be required of them. So they had to abandon all for the sake of the cross.

For the Church, however, a different message was given to its members.

Romans 11:29 “For God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.”

We, as believers in Jesus, the only Son of God, must stay focused on our spiritual calling. At the same time we are not to neglect our own households.

1 Timothy 5:8 “If anyone does not provide for his relatives and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

BE YE RECONCILED TO GOD

BE YE RECONCILED TO GOD

BE YE RECONCILED TO GOD

Colossians 1:17 “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

The Scene: Shown like a chemical formula, everything ever made is held together by their Creator.

Everything began at His command and will end at His command.

Revelation 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Colossians 1:18-19 “And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the first born from among the dead, so that in everything he might have supremacy: For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,”

*Holy Bible Marriage (God-ordained):

Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”

STONE ROLLED AWAY

STONE ROLLED AWAY.jpg

STONE ROLLED AWAY

Psalm 18:31 “For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?”

The Scene: The large rock in front of the tomb is a great symbol to the true believers in Jesus the Christ, their Lord, and in God the Father of all.

Most Christians know about the stone being rolled back at Jesus’ tomb, so people could see He had risen. The stone has another story to tell—it is evidence that nothing can stop our Lord and God–not a very heavy rock, not  death, nor the weight of the sin of the world.

Jesus came out of the tomb, showed Himself to those He loved, so they could actually see Him. Then they knew the truth and believed in their hearts that He was, in fact, Jesus, Savior, Christ, King of all.

Psalm 18:46 ” The Lord lives! Praise be my Rock! Exalted be my Savior!”

Charles Spurgeon, a great preacher/teacher of the Word, preached, “Observe that here is a foundation laid. That stone rolled away from the sepulcher, typifying and certifying, as it does the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is a foundation stone (cornerstone) for the Christian faith. The fact of the resurrection is the keystone of Christianity.  For all our hope hinges on that great fact.”

BLESS MY PEOPLE

BLESS MY PEOPLE.jpg

BLESS MY PEOPLE

Genesis 12:2-3 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

The Scene: Flag of Israel with an olive tree* in the background and a symbolic Mt. Herman, Israel’s highest mount. God’s presence in the cloud and the Trinity watching over Israel from below the cloud. The Mount of Olives was Jesus’ favorite place from which He taught.

*Olive tree, traditionally a symbol of God’s protection, provision and blessings over Israel. Olive trees also represent Israel, itself, and the wealth of the nation.

The free world, including the USA, needs to be eternally vigilant to stand with and defend Israel. Father God, in the beginning, gave the whole world a warning– “let My people go.”

Any nation or people that oppose Israel are the enemy of God, representing Satan himself. For the Christian, defense of Israel is neither an option nor a choice. We are to stand with Israel and stand with God.

ACCESS TO THE FATHER

ACCESS TO THE FATHER.jpg

ACCESS TO THE FATHER

Ephesians 2:18 “For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”

The Scene:  A high-walled stone enclosure, to represent a place for sacrifices, with an opening at one end, near the top–it is too high for anyone to reach, to give their sacrificial offering.

As born again Christians, we have access to our heavenly Father through our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. We do not have to figure out how to get to the altar to give sacrificial offerings to the Father for our sins.

Hebrews 10:19-22 “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

Access to God has been promised to those who love Him through the one and only Son.

Revelation 3:8 “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an  open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”

PERFECTION

PERFECTION.jpg

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.'”

The Scene: A picture frame without any picture or object upon which to focus, called “Perfection”.

2 Corinthians 12:10 “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Perfection in this life is unattainable, except through God’s mercy and grace. We may not have to go through the trials like the Apostle Paul encountered, but we will all face hardships of various  kinds.  We will be  stronger for enduring the tests if we depend on our Lord to bring us through it. Our faith will be made stronger through Him.

Psalm 119:96 “To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.”

Fear of erring, perfectionism, can be the devil’s ploy, to prevent mankind from acting in faith.” God loves His people more than they will ever know,” the Holy Spirit said.

I WILL PROVIDE

I WILL PROVIDE.jpg

I WILL PROVIDE

Luke 12:22  “Then Jesus said to his disciples: “\’Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.'”

The Scene: The birds eating together the food God has provided for them: they worry not about their next meal.*

*In the background we see that the Lord has provided:  the sun for warmth and light, water for drink, representing His living Word and the clouds in the sky suggesting rain in the near future.  The trees provide shade and the flowers beauty; the green, grassy hills:  all of this  is  provided by God, not man.

“I will provide,”says God’s Word. ” I am the God of no lack for those who are true believers in Me, Jesus the Christ and who follow My Word.”

Luke 12:24 ” Consider the ravens:  They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than the birds!”

“Like the sparrows and the ravens who depend on Me, do not worry,” says the Lord Almighty, through His Holy Spirit.

TREASURES IN HEAVEN II

TREASURES IN HEAVEN II

TREASURES IN HEAVEN

Matthew 6:19 ” But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

The Scene: An open safe– the contents missing, stolen.

People of this world will take whatever they can from others, without any afterthought of the consequences.”Where there is a will there is a way,” said the Holy Spirit, referring to the open safe and stolen treasures.

1 Timothy 6:18-19 “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds and be generous to share. In this way they will lay up treasures for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”

God’s Word tells us not to fret over lost treasures–but to trust in Him and His Word (His promises) and to do what He tells us in His Word to do.

DISCERNMENT

DISCERNMENT.jpg

DISCERNMENT

1 Kings 3:9  “So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

The Scene: Discerning heart–see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil.

Matthew 13:13,15-17 ” This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them. But blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and hear what you hear but did not hear it.'”

Observation is an important part of discernment–observing the actions of others tells us a lot about their values and hearts.

Philippians 1:10-11 “So that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ– to the glory and praise of God.”

Psalm 85:8 ” I will listen to what the Lord God will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints–but let them not return to folly.”

God expects His people who have been given His Holy Spirit to discern the spirits and understand good from evil. We must learn to use the tools He has given us.

A PLACE OF REST

A PLACE OF REST.jpg

A PLACE OF REST

Revelation 7:17 ” For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

The Scene: An oasis, a place of shade and rest.

For the people who are called by His name, Christians, life in this world can be as harsh as the earth’s deserts. But when we spend time with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, it can be like finding an oasis– living water, a place of peace and quiet.

The Lord says,”Think of Me. Find solace*.Enjoy your time with Me. Come sit awhile.”

*Solace: relief, to find comfort, to enjoy and to be relieved.

Psalm 62:1-2 “My soul finds rest in God alone, my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

Psalm 33:22 ” May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”
