OUR HELP

OUR HELP

Psalm 121:1-2 “l Lift up my eyes to the hills–where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

The Scene: A picture of a vast landscape of rolling hills–a mix of gold and green.

Isaiah 41:10 ” So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.*”

* Note In the Holy Scriptures “my righteous right hand” is Father God’s Son, Jesus the Christ, the Savior of all who will trust in Him for salvation.

Our Holy Spirit said, ” I will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Isaiah 46:4 “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

7-25 HELP

TEST OF FIRE

TEST OF FIRE

Hosea 6:1-3 “Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence. Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

The Scene: A vision of the spring fires that burn off the old grasses and chaff of the last season– symbolic of the Christian’s test of fire by our Lord.

After the spring burn off there appears new growth coming up out of the scorched earth (new beginnings).

When Jesus was put on the cross and killed, many of His followers were discouraged and depressed. It appeared that the Church had been stopped in its tracks. Then after a short while (50 days) Pentecost occurred- -the Church’s spirit was reignited by the Holy Spirit and the Church began to grow, once again, with new vigor and promise.

The new growth in the scene is like the Church in its infancy.

The fires of hell came and tried to kill both Jesus and the Church, but they both were raised, restored and now flourish, like root structure of the grasses that have been burned. The fires of hell will not prevail against the Church of Jesus Christ our Savior and Messiah.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to baptize us with fire.

Luke 3:16 “John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit* and with fire.’ ” *for cleansing of the soul.

7-27 BAPTISM BY FIRE

GET RID OF OUR BURDENS

GET RID OF BURDENS

Ephesians 4:31-32 ” Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

The Scene: A born-again child of God walking up a rise, representing his coming up higher in the Spirit (maturity). As that person matures in his spiritual walk, he is dropping off the boxes, symbolic of sins.

We are called to get rid of the burdens from our mortal bodies through repentance and becoming born-again through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:4 (AMP) “For while we are still in this tent, we groan under the burden and sigh deeply–weighed down, depressed, oppressed, not that we want to put off the body (the clothing of the Spirit) but rather that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal (our dying body) may be swallowed up by life (after the resurrection).”

We now desire to be more Christ-like, casting off our burdens from the “old person” of sin.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

CHOOSE LIFE

CHOOSE LIFE

John 7:17 “‘ If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.’ (Jesus Christ speaking.)

The Scene: A fork in the road, an illustration that all mankind must make an eternal choice, one day, before he/she dies.

Throughout our lives we have to make choices that take us either down the “road to life” or down the “road to destruction.”

Deuteronomy 30:19 “This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and your children may live.”

Proverbs 8:10-11 “Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it costs all you have, get understanding.”

God’s Word is clear: there are no shades of gray in the Holy Bible and He does not confuse us. He gives us His Word of Truth.

7-23 RIGHT ROAD

BLACK AND WHITE

BLACK AND WHITE

Mark 12:28-31 “One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ ‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus,’is this: “Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no commandment greater than these.’ “

The Scene: Two contrasting patches: one black, one white–God’s Word is clear, no confusion about His Word’s meanings. When the Lord’s Word tells us how to stay in peace, ‘ We can take it to the bank,’ as some people might say.

James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

Proverbs 15:19 ” The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.”

Proverbs 16:17 “The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his way guards his life.”

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

7-22 NARROW ROAD

BEAUTIFUL LORD

BEAUTIFUL LORD

Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

The Scene: “A kaleidoscope–a tube made of mirrors and pieces of colored bright glass, paper or stone, whose reflections produce changing patterns, as the tube is turned/rotated.

This author watched this vision of a spinning kaleidoscope; changing patterns of many colors rotating to the center and back out to the outer edges over and over again. While pondering this scene, the Holy Spirit quickened that this picture was a symbolic representation–a very small glimpse of Father God’s nature. He is “Kalos” (Greek word for beautiful).

The pieces of colored glass represent the many facets of God. The movement of the colored chips is symbolic of God’s blessings going out to His people. The return toward the center of the disk represents the praises of God’s people coming back to Him.

Psalm 67:3 “May the people praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.”

Psalm 48:1 “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain.”

CROWN OF LOVE

CROWN OF LOVE

Mark 15:17-18 “They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.  And they began to call out to him, ‘Hail, king of the Jews! ‘”

The Scene: The crown of thorns* came from a scrubby plant called burnet, which grew in the region in which Jesus taught. He wore the crown of thorns which we had deserved, that we might wear the crown of glory which he merited.” (Matthew Henry Commentary- Zondervan edition 1960)

“The Son of God loves us so much that He was willing to wear a crown of thorns, that those who believe might wear the crown of life,” said the Holy Spirit.

James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

2 Timothy 4:8  “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

*Three (3) strands make up the crown of thorns–three being the Biblical number for the Trinity. When Jesus suffered and was crucified, not only did Jesus suffer, but the wholeness of God was included, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

TRUST ME, TRY ME, FOR I AM

TRUST ME, TRY ME, FOR I AM

Joshua 3:8 “Tell the priests that carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river. v.13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord–the Lord of all the earth–set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.’ “

Th Scene: A flowing river representing the Jordan River in Israel.

Frequently, the Lord Jesus Christ will require some kind of action from His followers before He answers our prayers; that is, our acting in faith according to His revealed Word. His direction may need our “taking a risk” in His timing and according to His direction.

Joshua and the Israelites were ready to cross the Jordan River into the promised land; the nation was stopped by God until He performed a miracle so they could walk across the riverbed, in faith, on dry land. Our obedience to Father God will lead us to blessings on the other side (at His direction) whether large steps or small.

James 2:14 “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? v. 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

7-21 TRUST

TWELVE

TWELVE

Matthew 10:1 “He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.”

The Scene: A large number 12….in the Holy Bible, the number 12 represents many things which include: authority, governmental perfection, divine government, power and rule.

But on the day of this vision, the Holy Spirit explained to this author that the number 12 represents obedience to God. All the items mentioned above require obedience. The following event required listening to God and doing as He said:

Matthew 14:17-20 ” ‘We have here only five loaves and two fishes,’ they answered. ‘Bring them here to me,’ he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.”

The USA Supreme Court, at times, has had 12 jurists; trial juries have 12 members. We have a God of order. How do we maintain order? Without obedience to the US Constitution and the laws written by godly people, the USA has anarchy. God’s people are to lead the way, by example to the Word of God. No matter what worldly people are doing, we follow Jesus Christ.

EQUIPING OF THE SAINTS

EQUIPPING THE SAINTS

Galatians 5:16-17 “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.”

The Scene: A basket of fruit, symbolic of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. (See Galatians 5:22)

God has given His people the fruit of the Holy Spirit, so that they may have the tools to help us live a more godly life in this world. Everyone’s spirit is in conflict with their sinful nature, so we have been given God’s nature to overcome the world.

Galatians 5:25 “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”

John 15:1-3 “My Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.”

God’s way of helping us is to mature His people spiritually to become more like Him each day.
