TEMPORARY HOME

Isaiah 40:22 “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. “

The Scene: A tent–heaven sent representing the frailty and brevity of our lives; also, the tent is symbolic of a temporary home (we are not of this world)* and that we have an eternal home awaiting us in heaven. *John 17:14 ” I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.”

Our Lord has promised to to provide a tent/covering for His people in their time of need. His covering of love for us will provide shade from the heat to help overcome trials. For His love is greater than the world.

CURB THE TONGUE

Proverbs 15:1 “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

The Scene: Sealed lips– a reminder of how to prevent strife in our relationships with others.

Proverbs 17:14 “Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.”

A study of the book of Proverbs, spoken by King Solomon and a few other authors, gives words of moral instruction, to help with righteous living: *Guard Lips: Proverbs 21:23 “He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.” *Tongue restrained: Proverbs 17: 27-28 “A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.” *A man deceived: James 1:26 “If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight reign on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.” *Keeping the peace 1 Peter 3:10 : For, ‘Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.’ ” *Gossip: Proverbs 20:19 “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.” *Wise Words: Proverbs 15:23A man finds joy in giving an apt reply–and how good is a timely word!”

We are called to speak the truth in love: Ephesians 4:15 “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.”

I AM FAITHFUL

Hebrews 3:6 “But Christ is faithful as a Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.”

The Scene: The cross of Christ represented–a reminder that He gave His life us.

Jesus Christ our Lord was transformed into the “Son of Man” for us. He was crucified on the cross, faithful to God’s will. And He has chosen to live in us, born-again believers.

Hebrews 10:22-23 “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

Many people have been lost and gone to eternal hell because they lacked or gave up their faith in the One who is most faithful, Jesus Christ our Savior.

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

LIFE’S DIFFICULTIES

Ecclesiastes 2:22-23 “What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.”

The Scene: A stack of fallen dominoes–symbolic of trials, troubles, difficulties that may occur in our lives. The hand of the Lord pushed over the dominoes, attempting to help His people overcome the problems and grow in spiritual and emotional maturity.

We have been told by the Lord, through His Holy Spirit, He will help us through our situations, if we call on His name, Jesus! His Spirit has given us the whole armor of God.

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; Trust also in me.”

HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER

Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with lovingkindness.’ “

The Scene: A light aircraft towing a banner that says,” His love endures forever,” with clouds behind: a representation of heaven, from where God overlooks His creation.

The Lord longs for His children to know how much He loves us. He went to the cross for us and rose on the third day to demonstrate His power to bring everlasting life in His presence.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Within Psalm 136 , there appears the refrain, “His love endures forever.” This appears 26* times! The Scriptures leave us with a trail showing us Father God’s message to us, in his own words. He loves us! *26, the Bible number for Gospel.

Father God left us His Word; filled with His blessings, grace, mercy and promises. His promises include salvation for those who read His Word, honor Him by obeying His decrees and commands, and who will accept His only Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior.

Ephesians 3:16-18 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. “

The Scene: A hanging potted plant similar to a vine–a reminder that Jesus Christ is the true vine; He must dwell in us and we in Him.

READ John Chapter 15; including verse 5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

The plant is rooted in the pot– just as Jesus is rooted in our Father God.

John 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”

John 15:16-17 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other.”

BE FED II

Psalm 95:6 “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

The Scene: A plant not yet bloomed; symbolic of God’s born-again children– the ground around the plant has been stirred to loosen the soil that is to receive the nutrients, being poured from the scoop, held in the hand of the Lord. The fork represents peoples’ worship. The nutrients are the Word of God.

With the help of the Holy Spirit and His Word the flower one day will bloom. So, we can ask ourselves, “Why does Father God want us to worship and praise Him? Does He really need us to?” We know that when our heavenly Father desires something of us it is for our own good. And He rewards all who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Worship is like a stirring of the soil; it prepares us for what is to come. The nutrients of God’s Word feed our souls and spirits, which in turn causes us to grow spiritually into mature Christians.

GIVE HIM PRAISE

Isaiah 44:23 “Sing for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done this; shout aloud, o earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees, for the Lord has redeemed Jacob, he displays his glory in Israel.”

The Scene: Trees with branches pointed skyward, like arms raised to praise the Lord our God.

All creation will praise His name!

Isaiah 55:12 “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

Psalm 96:11, 13 “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. They will sing before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.”

God, our Almighty God, will get heaven and all His creation to give Him praise if the peoples of this earth will not.

Jeremiah 24:7 ” I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.”

The Scene: The hearts of God’s people and the open window of heaven: Jesus Christ is the One who opens the windows of heaven for all true believers.

Ezekiel 11:19-20 ” I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”

Though the above Scriptures refer to the nation of Israel, as Christians we have been grafted into the vine, Jesus–He is the vine, we are His branches. John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Luke 1:78-79“Because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

The Scene: It was the break of a new day; the sun began to rise above the vast ocean.

Just like the sun rising in the east every day, the Lord our God, is faithful and sure.

Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”

Know today that the perfect Son of God has risen; He shines brightly for all who choose to receive Him.

John 8:12 ” When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ “
