2 Timothy 1:6-7 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.”
The Scene: A large fan capable of fanning up flames–each blade represents piety-faith-zeal-love, that the Holy Spirit places in our hearts, when we receive His Holy Spirit in our hearts through faith in Jesus Christ.
Paul was writing his second letter to Timothy– a letter of encouragement. Paul’s message is written for all who are born of the Holy Spirit–we are to show great zeal for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Romans 12:11–13 “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
We have our example to follow.
Acts 10:37-38 “You Know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached–how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.”
