GENTLE IS OUR GOD

GENTLE IS OUR GOD

The Scene: Large breaking waves near shore, rolling in, one after another. Then the wave flattened out and continued to roll onto the shore, gently caressing the sandy beach.

Psalm 89:9 “You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.”

Sometimes the large waves seem the only way people see God–a God of awesome power. The people fear Him. But if His people would focus on who our Holy God really is they will see His gentleness, like the waves as they gently stroke the sandy shores.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

We receive rewards from God when we listen to His voice, spoken through His Holy Spirit, and follow His will, rather than our own.

Psalm 107:29-31 “He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.”

Psalm 136:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.”
