The Scene: Three jet fighter aircraft in attack mode–tracking down the enemy; representation of the Holy Trinity going before God’s people to protect them from our enemy (Satan) and Satan’s strongmen (demons).

8-115 PROTECTION

Song of Solomon 2:4 “He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love.”

The Scene: Jehovah Nissi (the Lord my Banner); a scene of Moses at the battle with the Amalekites at Rephidim.

Joshua led the battle for the Israelites. The Israelites were winning as long as Moses held up his hands, as though he were holding up a banner. The Holy Spirit added to this vision the banner “Jehovah Nissi.” The Israelites had been attacked by the Amalekites and Moses ordered Joshua to counterattack. When we give God the glory due His name for victory in any spiritual battle, our (and His) ministry continues.

Exodus 17:15-16 “Moses built an altar and called It the Lord is my Banner. He said, ‘For hands were lifted up to the throne of the Lord.’ The Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”

1 Samuel 17:47 “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you unto our hands.”

Psalm 20:1,5 “May the Lord answer when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests.”

The Israelites carried banners into battle to show their divisions or clans; the banners were used as rallying points so that the troops could identify each other during an attack by their enemies. Each group had a designated banner carrier; if he fell wounded or dead someone else would pick up the banner and continue onward.

Isaiah 13:1-3 “An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw: Raise a banner on a bare hilltop, shout to them; beckon to them to enter the gates of the nobles. I have commanded my holy ones; I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath–those who rejoice in my triumph.”

8-116 VICTORY IS THE LORD’S

1 John 2:16 “For everything in the world–the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has done and does–comes not from the Father but from the world.”

The Scene: Represents people who are in bondage: hooked on drugs, alcohol, pornography, or any addiction, something that is not God honoring; like being caught in a whirlpool. They stay hooked and the end result is they are sinking deeper into their addiction (sin) as if someone were caught in a whirlpool and drawn in deeper and deeper, then cannot escape the strong current pulling them into the vortex. Their sin has overcome them to the point they are totally lost spiritually and may spend eternity in hell, except when they reach out to Jesus for help and turn their lives over to Him.

1 Corinthians 10:13-14 “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.”

God has given humankind free will; however, it would be better for all to follow God’s plan, which brings success, joy, and true freedom through Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 6:12 “Everything is permissible for me”–but I will not be mastered by anything.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? 8-114 BONDAGE

Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

The Scene: A prison cell with an open door–cold steel, formerly a locked cell, dungeon- like place. While watching the prison door, it sprung open without any earthly help. The Holy Spirit quickened to this writer, that when we follow God’s plan for our lives and have the love of God in our hearts, then the prison door of bondage is opened. When we do the will of Father God we can stay out of our own created prisons.

Galatians 3:22 “But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.”

Isaiah 42:6-7 “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.”

8-102 FREEDOM

Deuteronomy 1:30-31 “The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”

The Scene: A maze–finding the path from earth to heaven.

Like the Israelites of the Old Testament era, the Holy Spirit of God leads His people the right way, passing through this world on their journey to heaven.

God’s people have been programmed (filled with His Spirit). They have been given the map, an outline (the Holy Bible) showing how to get to heaven. The Holy Spiirit will lead us to heaven if we are willing to follow God’s plan for our lives. And we, in turn, can show others who are lost (unsaved) through the maze of life into the right way to the Savior Jesus Christ and to heaven through the Gospels .

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.”

The Scene: Hot air balloon festival–representing Christians and the choices they make throughout their lives. The people on the gondolas/baskets control the flame from the propane gas burners, which provides the heat that fills the balloon with hot air and causes the conveyance to lift off the ground and soar into the air.

Many of the balloons drifted along together, (they had caught the wind of the Holy Spirit). Christians can turn their fire (zeal) up or down. They can drift along in peace with the Holy Spirit or they can get into turbulence or even come down somewhere prematurely, missing out on staying in peace in the presence of the Lord.

They may also miss their blessings, but they can choose to go where God wants them to be spiritually, with opportunities to stay close to our Lord Jesus Christ.

James 1:5-6 “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

Daniel 12:3 “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”

8-103 WISDOM

Revelation 7:16-17 “Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

The Scene: At first there was a man standing in the sun baking from the heat represented by feelings of condemnation (guilt). A Christian man, he fell to his knees and prayed, facing the sun. As he prayed, a large cross came up out of the ground. The large cross cast a shadow toward the man, who was now in total shade, protected from the sun’s rays and heat. Because he was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, his prayers continued to increase the size of the cross, until he was in total shade. He was no longer undergoing the enemy’s guilt.

Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

James 5:16b “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”

8-99 POWER OF PRAYER

Ephesians 2:19-22 “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

The Scene: The Cornerstone (Jesus) of His Temple (The Church) with building blocks representing both Jews and Gentiles being together as one building (one body) under Christ as the Head of the Church.
