THE POWER OF GOD

POWER OF GOD

Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.”

The Scene: Three atomic bomb explosions–symbolic of the power of the Holy Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Psalm 65:6-7 ” Who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.”

Matthew 8:27 ” The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!’ “

Mark11:20-21 “In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered.’ “

Our God has the power to do anything, including: healing the spirit, mind and body of the sick, raising the dead, forgiving and erasing our sins!

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

John 15:7 “If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”

7-39 GOD’S POWER

TRUTH-ROCK SOLID

TRUTH-ROCK SOLID

John 18:38 ” ‘What is truth?” Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, ‘I find no basis for a charge against him.’ ”

The Scene: Granite rock monolith of T-R-U-T-H representing God’s Word (never changing*). Funny Putty can and gelatin dish, representing relative truth of the world. *Cannot be refuted or proven wrong–once true, always true, is not changed generation to generation by discoveries or men’s ideas.

To the world truth is what ever it takes to get them what they want at the time, ever changing.

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ “

God’s Word of Truth is from one source; Jesus is the Word. His Word never changes and will never end.

John 16:13 ” But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears and he will tell you what is yet to come.”

On the other hand, the world’s truth is like molding putty or gelatin into various shaped dishes. Man’s wisdom is molded by men’s thoughts, philosophy, opinions, false information, culture, social influences, Satan’s lies.

1 Corinthians 2:14 -15 “The man without the Spirit does not accept the the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment.”

7-32 TRUTH-GOD’S WORD

FOLLOW THE SON

FOLLOW THE SON

Psalm 84:11-12 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.”

The Scene: A red ball sun on the horizon with an ocean going ship, heading west, toward the setting sun. The ship tacked back and forth, but always generally following the sun.

The Holy Spirit quickened, that the sailing ship represents the Christian’s journey through life, going this way and that way, but staying focused on the son, Jesus Christ. He lights the way–we are to follow. This is His plan.

Revelation 22:5 “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.”

7-37 GOD IS LIGHT

SEARED CONSCIENCE

SEARED CONSCIENCE

1 Timothy 4:1-2 “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.”

The Scene: Hot poker branding iron. The brand is of the pentagram, a symbol of Satan in current usage, searing the heart of the unsaved.

But for God’s children He has made their heart to be right in His own eyes, through His only son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

We who are born-again are filled with His Holy Spirit. Philippians 1:9-10 “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ– to the glory and praise of God.”

7-34 CONSCIENCE

FAN THE FLAME

FAN THE FLAME

2 Timothy 1:6-7 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.* For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. “

* Laying on of hands: the act, given to those who are seeking the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and all His gifts for us, which includes the fruit of the Spirit. (See Galatians 5:22)

The Scene: A person who has already received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, laying hands on someone who wants to receive the same baptism in the Holy Spirit. The flames (tongues of fire) represent the Holy Spirit entering the candidate.

Luke 11:13 If you then, though you are evil,* know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” *sinners—for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (See Romans 3:23).

The Five Fold Ministry— the gifts of being apostles, prophets, teachers, workers of miracles, gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration and those speaking in tongues: these make up the body of Christ and His church. (See 1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

Acts 2:1-4 When the day of Pentecost* came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit entered them.” * 50 days after Jesus’ bodily ascension into heaven.

7-35 THE TONGUE

FREEDOM IN THE WORD

FREEDOM IN THE WORD

Galatians 5:1, 13 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”

The Scene: A view from above; a representation of God’s people who are playing, enjoying their freedom. A very large ocean-going power boat, making fast turns, zig-zagging along. Above the speed boat is a jet flying close to the water, with its powerful engine exhaust causing the water to spray, forming a rooster tail wake beside the boat.

Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

The blue waters represent the living water (the Word of God). We can have complete freedom when we live according to the Word (the Holy Bible) and are not restricted by the legalist, who wants us to focus on just one part, and who may twist completely the Word, which would bring death, not life. Then we are truly freed from fear of death and can look forward to life in heaven with our Lord Jesus and our heavenly rewards, which are gained through our faith in Him and our obedience.

7-38 FREEDOM

UNCHAINED

UNCHAINED

2 Timothy 2:8-10 ” Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.”

The Scene: A picture of the Holy Bible laid open with an unlocked and loosened chain.

God’s people have been chained because they wouldn’t stop speaking God’s Word, which represents worldly rejection. Paul and Peter were chained physically, but God’s word cannot be chained nor controlled, lasting forever.

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”

John 8:31-32 “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’ “

John 1:1 ” In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.”

7-36 TRUTH

DIVINE HELP

DIVINE HELP

Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the hills–where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

The Scene: See the yellow bulldozer working on clearing, leveling the narrow gravel roadway from debris. The driver, Jesus, clears the roadway while the road grader, following behind the bulldozer, smooths the surface.

The Holy Spirit clarifies that Father God, the architect of the narrow road (Godly rules, commandments, covenants) Jesus and the Holy Spirit (our Helper) goes before us on the narrow road, clearing the way for us.

If we ask the Lord Jesus Christ for His help, He will see that we get through any situation and we can stay peaceful to watch God work on our behalf.

Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to your right or to your left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ “

Isaiah 42:16 “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

We need not fear anything, though having concerns, so long as we listen to the Lord God following His voice.

Hebrews 13:6 “So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’ “

7-33 HELPER

OPEN OUR EYES

OPEN OUR EYES

MARK 8:17-19 “Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: ‘Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets of pieces did you pick up?’ ‘Twelve,’ they replied.”

The Scene: A dropper putting drops into the eye to help clear up the vision–the eye drops representing God’s living water, His Holy Word.

Mark 8:21 “Jesus asked his disciples, ‘Do you still not understand?’ “

When we read God’s Word and still lack understanding, we have been given Jesus’ Holy Spirit to give us relational knowledge and understanding. We have but to pray and ask for clarification.

Mark 8:25 “Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.”

7-31 BLINDNESS

PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS II

MATTHEW 7:14 “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

The scene: A gravel road, straight and narrow, with a Christian person walking on the path; serpent holes in the ground along each side of the narrow way, representing those things that cause God’s people to leave the straight and narrow path (the way of holiness).

Snakes/serpents came out of the holes and tried to bite God’s own. However, the double-edged sword was being held by this Christian person–representing the Word of God. This was enough to keep the snakes at bay.

When trials come we are to hold steady, on the way, speaking out with God’s Word and prayer to stop the attacks of the enemy. If God’s people stay on the narrow road we will arrive at our eternal destination, heaven, and receive our promised rewards and our home with God forever.

James 1:12 -13 “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God had promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desires, he is dragged away and enticed.”

7-31 TEMPTTATIONS
