LAYING ON OF HANDS

2 Timothy 1:6-7 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

The Scene: Representation of the hand of Father God– showing the power of His Holy Spirit bringing the power of His love, self-discipline to His people who are believers in His Son Jesus Christ, Savior.

It is only through the power of God given to us that we are able to carry on the work God has for us, as we give Him praise, honor and glory and to help build His kingdom on earth.

1 Peter 5:67 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

It is through the laying on of hands that the Holy Spirit can enlighten us into the secret things of Christ (the mystery of Christ).

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 However, as it is written: No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him–but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

1 Corinthians 2:12, 14 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. The man without the the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1Corinthians 2:16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”

STREAMS OF LIVING WATER

John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice,” If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not been glorified.

The Scene: A cascading waterfall–symbolic of the living water of Jesus’ Word expressed through His people.

The Lord of all has released His Spirit over His own–blessings of living water cover His children, leading us to live a life led by His Holy Spirit, filled with His fruit of the Spirit (See Galatians 5:22).

Revelation 22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

We are called to think on the things above–think on these things. We are called to have the mind of Christ.

Philippians 4:8 Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self controlled so you can pray.

Isaiah 53:1-2a “Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant and as a root out of a dry ground. ” (KJV)

The Scene: A thumb representing religion and its study, an attempt to suppress* the Truth of God’s Word (Theology) which cannot be suppressed. *suppress: to keep from being revealed, published or circulated; to put an end; to forcibly subdue. (American Heritage College Dictionary-1997)

Religion: Man-made thought (philosophy) about God. Theology: The true study of the one triune God.

Our omnipotent God will not allow Christianity to be snuffed out by false religions of the world. The Holy Spirit will continue to kindle the fire of God’s Word; His Word will never die.

The Word of the Lord will last forever.

Colossians 3:11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Isaiah 55:10-11 ” As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

RIGHTEOUSNESS (A PRECIOUS GIFT FROM GOD)

2 Peter 1:1-2 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Jesus Christ is the changer of our hearts–righteousness can only come about through Him. Without God’s help we can do nothing.

John 15:5 ” I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I remain in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Ezekiel 36: 26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a new heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Even if we desire to change our own hearts, actual change is impossible without God’s help. Give him praise for your salvation. Prayer: “Shine your light in our hearts, O God. Give us more of you each day and less of ourselves. In Jesus name, Amen.”

1 Peter 2:4-5 “As you come to him, the living Stone–rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him–you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

The Scene: Rock houses–representing God’s chosen people: in the right corner of each house is the Cornerstone, Jesus Himself being the foundation, the Rock of our salvation.

Ephesians 2:19-22 “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

Because we are followers of Jesus the Christ we are called to be rock solid in our faith, because He is in us and we are in Him–Christ in us the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Psalm 62:2 “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

Luke 5:36-39 “He told them this parable: ‘No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into the new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, “The old is better.” ‘ ” Matthew Henry’s Commentary 1961 Zondervan p. 1430 “The disciples will be tempted to think their old way of living better, till they are by degrees trained up to this way whereunto they are called.”

The Scene: A new patch sewn onto the old garment. The patch represents ourselves as sinners, when we cannot rid ourselves of the old nature. When we try to fix/repair ourselves, we cannot succeed, for our Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who can truly make all things new, representing a new life through our faith in Him and our spiritual power through His name.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”

Only when we are born-again according to God’s Word can we truly serve God, pleasing Him.

2 Corinthians 5:20 “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

Proverbs 16:32 “Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.”

The Scene: People erect many fences around themselves by the way they live. People whose lives are full of anger lack patience and the fruit of the Holy Spirit, exhibiting just the opposite behavior from that described in Proverbs 16:32.

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Impatient people build fences around themselves that keep them from acting Christ-like and which then hurts their ability to minister to God, to themselves and to others. As the world becomes more and more self-centered we must become more Christ centered, focused on Him.

1 Corinthians 4:20-21 ” For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a whip, or in love and with a gentle spirit?”

LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

The Scene: A night scene of many hills– among the hills could be seen fires burning, sending out light into a darkened world.

1 Thessalonians 5:5 “You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.”

Father God created the light–we who born-again through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord are His children and are filled with His Holy Spirit light.

Ephesians 5:8 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth).

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”
