POWER OF THE LORD

POWER OF THE LORD.jpg

POWER OF THE LORD

Psalm 68:34 ”  Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies.”

The Scene: The aurora borealis*dancing above the earth–sometimes referred to as northern lights  seen as a type and shadow of the power of the Lord, explained the Holy Spirit. *caused by an ejection of charged particles from our sun into the magnetic field of the earth.

Christians, who are made in the image of God, have been given power through the Holy Spirit to do many wonders for our God. We perform works for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit He has given us to dwell within.  Ephesians 1:18-19  “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength.”

Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the  glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.”

GREEN PASTURES

GREEN PASTURES.jpg

GREEN PASTURES

Psalm 23:2 “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.”

The Scene: A peaceful, restful, eye pleasing greenery–a landscape scene: for the Christian, green is a sign of life and a color that is restful to the eye (with the birds nearby; a sign of the Holy Trinity.)

Psalm 52:8 “But I am like a green olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.”

So, when life becomes stressful to the mind and heart, call on the Holy Spirit to show the way out–to peace, through the green valley.

Psalm4:8 “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Romans 8:6-9 “The mind of the sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.  And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”

JESUS LOOKS AT THE HEART

JESUS LOOKS AT THE HEART

JESUS LOOKS AT THE HEART

Acts 15:8 “God who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.” (No difference between Jew and Gentile with our Lord Jesus Christ)

The Scene: Symbolism–the window of the heart. Jesus desires all people to open their hearts to the light of His truth.

2 Corinthians 4:6 “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. ”

  • For many people, Jesus finds the windows to their hearts closed and the shade drawn.
  • For some the window may be partly open with the shade pulled half-way down.
  • For a few, Jesus finds the window to their hearts open and the shade all the way up, ready to receive from the Holy Spirit the light of the Truth of the Word of God.

John 16:13-15 “But when he, the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.  All that belongs to the Father is mine.  That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.”  (Jesus speaking to the disciples)

Therefore, it behooves every Christian to keep an open window in our hearts, ready to receive every Word out of the mouth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the creator of the Word. ( See John 1:1)

NEEDLESS FEAR

NEEDLESS FEAR.jpg

NEEDLESS FEAR

1Kings 18:13 “Haven’t you heard, my Lord, what I did while Jezebel was killing the prophets of the Lord? I hid a hundred of the Lord’s prophets in two caves, fifty in each, and supplied them with food and water.”

The Scene: A cave–for hiding in times of fear, like that in which the prophets  were hidden by Obadiah.

1Kings 19:10 “He replied, ‘I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.’ ”  (This was the prophet Elijah speaking.)

We know from reading the rest of the Scripture lesson (Ref. 1 Kings 19:11-18) that Elijah was not alone. God had saved 7,000 prophets.

In the troubled times of this restless world, God’s people will have their needs met: they need not be fearful. God sees and knows all that is going on in our lives. He is in control and command of what happens to us and for us; His Word tells us so.  In the lesson with Obadiah there were 100 prophets divided into two groups of 50. In Bible numbers 100 represents the “elect” and God’s grace. The number 50 represents the Holy Spirit and deliverance.

The Holy Scriptures tell us, “Fear not for I am with you.” (ref. Isaiah 41:10)

Ephesians 2:17-18 ” He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”

LOCKED IN THE BODY

LOCKED IN THE BODY

LOCKED IN THE BODY

Romans 8:1-2 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

The Scene: a box representing a human body that has its soul and spirit locked inside that earthly body.

Man is a three part being; body, soul (mind) and spirit; created by God. Locked inside the body are the soul and spirit, waiting on Jesus to free them.

Romans 8:20 “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into glorious freedom of the children of God.”

Romans 6:18 “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

ONE BANDAGE AT A TIME

ONE BANDAGE AT A TIME

ONE BANDAGE AT A TIME

Jeremiah 17:14 “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”

The Scene : A box of bandages used to cover hurts.

Jesus is our healer, one day at a time. Sometimes we wonder, when we are sick, depressed or hurt in spirit, if Jesus knows or cares about our condition. The Holy Scriptures repeatedly say, ‘Jesus had mercy on the people and ‘He healed them all’.

References: See Luke 4:40, Matthew 8:16.

1 Peter 2:24-25 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.  For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

Jesus knows our hurts, physical, mental and spiritual, at all times. He does care very much.

We, however, must be satisfied to wait on God for when our healings will come in His perfect timing, either immediately or over a period of time.

Psalm 30:2 “O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.”

OUR HEALER

OUR HEALER

OUR HEALER (Jehovah Raphah*)

Matthew 9:22 “Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart, daughter,’ he said, ‘Your faith has healed you.’ And the woman was healed from that moment.”

The Scene: A nurse’s cap of old–representing olden signs of healers–those who helped us get well, along with doctors, hospitals.  At times, God will heal us supernaturally; at other times He will use the medical/counseling field to accomplish our healing. However we’re healed, we’re healed by God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  We praise the Trinity for our healing.  We look to God for our healing:  spirit, soul and body.

Matthew 9:29a “Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘According to your faith will it be done to you.’ ”

Isaiah 53:4-5  “Truly he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

*God has healed:  Unger’s Bible Dictionary, 1977 ed. p. 912.  We look to God for our healing:  physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

HOPE

Psalm 25:3,5 “No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse…Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

The Scene: Very large cumulus clouds *– a reminder of  the coming of Jesus, the Christ, our Savior; for those who are in-Christ (born-again). And the three birds, symbolic of the Trinity:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit

1 Thessalonians 4:17 “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

Luke 21:27 ” ‘At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.’ ”

*Revelation 1:7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.”

TROUBLED ZONE

TROUBLE ZONE.jpg

TROUBLE ZONE

Proverbs 4:14 “Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.”

The Scene: Sign along the narrow path that leads to life eternal.

Christians, those born-again believers, have the Holy Spirit living inside of them–He speaks to God’s people, warning them of potential trouble.  Listen to His voice and do what He says when the message comes, ” You are entering a trouble zone.”

Matthew 24:4 “Jesus answered, ‘ Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name claiming, ‘I am the Christ, and will deceive many.’ ”

When Christians fall into these trouble zones we are called to pray for help. The Holy Spirit will lead us through troubled times.

Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

Hebrew 2:18 “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” He, Jesus, is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (See Hebrews 11:6)

Jesus and Father God have thought of everything to help and protect us before we were created.

SEALED

SEALED

SEALED

John 6:27 ” Do not work fo food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

The Scene: A bright shiny seal emblazoned with a sun burst representing the seal of Jesus–The seal He places on his people.

Ephesians 1:13 ” And you also wee included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”

And with this seal of the Holy Spirit we are called out, ” as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that they may declare the praises of him who are called out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

Romans 8:17 “Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his suffering in order that we may also share in his glory.”

We, those who are born-again, have the living seal of Jesus within us– Therein lies the truth of our eternal salvation and life with Jesus in heaven forever!
